How To Decorate a MASTER BEDROOM . what’s your challenge ok so we’re moving into the condo get one more table do you like not turn out Debbie can you get one more table not really I help you today’s winner of what would Rebecca do is from Chicago her name is Kelly kelly and her husband have a nine-year-old son and they need some help with their master bedroom all right Kelly so here’s the issue you have a bedroom a nice bedroom it’s a good size but you have a vaulted ceiling here and that it seems to be what your challenges of all to the ceiling you either love them or you hate him or somewhere in between just where i usually ball the problem is when you have a very rectangular headboard that doesn’t have any softness to it it really draws attention to the fact that this ceiling goes up here so you can see that this is a vaulted ceiling so that makes this Coast rate and that go up and something about it just doesn’t feel right.
And i agree but there is a way to address vaulted ceilings and that is this I try to make my focal point wall a wall that is not vaulted here is your other wall that is on the low side and it looks like you have two very large windows here which is really cool i personally love beds on the window wall so I’m going to say i’m going to suggest to you that you take this bed you turn it sideways and you put it in this way that means when you enter the bedroom from this door you will be looking straight on to the bed which is your focal point which will be fabulous also your color scheme is very dark here because of these chocolate curtains the chocolate bed that is a lot of chocolate and also dark carpet is a very dark room I don’t think I’d ever say this but sometimes there’s such a thing as too much chocolate so by putting the bed in front of this window wall over here basically going like this and straddling this one little piece of drywall you are going to be able to keep these curtains open during the daytime and have a beautiful backdrop behind your bed now I took the liberty creating a floor plan.
How To Decorate a MASTER BEDROOM
I took your bed and put it on the wall that has the windows on either side you have matching nightstands which is awesome then i took this bench that was at the end of the bed and here’s the deal see how this room is narrower this way and wider this way this means you don’t want to stack all your furniture because you end up with a very short walk way so I took your bench and i put it over on the wall the bed used to be on there is a dresser that you currently have a chest of drawers that you have your television on we’re going to take that television and we’re going to move it around to the same wall the door is on right here now you’ll notice that a door swings in so I have to make sure that i’m allowing enough room for that door to swing in before it hits the chest all right this is where your TV is going to sit and it’s directly across from your bed next to that i’m going to place this piece of furniture which is your hi boy so here’s what this is going to look like this is going to be like this as a chest of drawers and it’s going to have the TV sitting on top of it but all of this is going to move down towards the wall that the bed used to be on and above here I might put now you don’t you’re limited on wall space because of that nice there they usually put these little niches and that shelf thing like in the middle of the dry mean what are you supposed to do with that so you can either put a large piece of art that square you can put something that’s around you could even put something that’s more oval they gave you a high ceiling.
And they don’t give you the entire wall to use I mean that that bothers me so look here you see how these lamps are so short they’re just the wrong scale time to go shopping for some new lamps I drew up a you know I’m not an artist sorry about that guys but I i did a quick drawing of what this bed would look like in front of the windows you would open up your window treatments over here you would add a thicker rod and you would place your lamps on top of your night stands now here’s a trick do you see where the height of this headboard is right here you want your lamps to be slightly higher in fact i have them almost in the middle of the lampshade so if these were more like this already you’ve got more balance to your space now you do have window treatments board you have won the treatment you’ve got some serious window treatments Kelly these are like Hello dark chocolate now look at this do you see how your issue that your chick that you’re challenged with is the low end here high end here the fact that you lowered these rods where you put your window treatments even lower than the ceiling height it just brings even more of an imbalance to the room even if I just didn’t like this just to give you a concept look at the difference that window treatment makes that room look taller that one makes a little shorter you see that this is one of my favorite design little tricks that.
I love to do and that is on a little narrow piece of drywall here you can hang a piece of art above your bed this is a similar look for what i’m going for in your bedroom so here’s the wall that the bad used to be on here’s what I want you to do I want you to add a huge piece of art here I mean big Kelly big ok like four feet wide 6 feet tall pink let’s take a look for example at the coloring of your room so and this is the wall we go on here’s a piece that is looks great i think with the color and that you have its kind of got that caramelized color that’s in the walls it brings in the orange and slight part of this greenish look here comes in as well here’s another one that I love I’ve always loved his pieces of the screen display I just thought this is a large piece it’s the wind is blowing through the windows the color of the curtains here are very similar to the color of your walls and what I love the most is this little hint of blue blue is the color that will cut and get through all the warmth of the colors of the walls now these are floor lamps floor lamps are awesome something like this something that has maybe a tripod sort of shape to the bottom of it i like it being dark because it goes really nicely with the color of your furniture and I like the light shade add throw pillows on your bed and on your bench right here and again I still say that that blue soft blue color would be absolutely beautiful and I think if you can and you want to you should drop in a beautiful chandelier over the center of your bed that will make it absolutely fabulous so Kelly these are very simple ideas you are not that far away from reaching your goal and I am dying to see how this turns out of all the ideas that i gave Kelly just now which one do you think is going to make the biggest change
