Incredible Stairway makeover . remember the home i showed you where i help my friend with a condo we actually spent i took the square footage of what we made a difference then and i divided up by how much money we spend we spent one dollar in fifty cents per square foot in today’s episode of pics of friday we spent one thousand dollars per square foot this project was done 12 years ago not kidding all right but you’re going to learn design principles that are still applicable today it’s a really nice house they did every upgrade that you could possibly do in this house and they did their own decorating let’s just say she should have been part of my design session series here you have some before pictures you’ll notice this is this great floor that they have and they had put in some very nice sconces but in my opinion they were up way too high.
And a beautiful staircase this is around what we call a round turret entry what’s interesting about this is these stairs you see the scissors side step all the way up down up prop up cross across and then this is ready-made iron railing which i’m sure they paid a lot for I remember the client telling me they had done the upgrade in the ceiling you know how much that turret ceiling was I remember because it left a lasting impression sixty thousand dollars for that upgrade will imagine how the client felt when my cabinet builder came in and said oh you know how they made that ceiling how they just nailed up cabinet doors going ok that’s all they need to do here to go oh my gosh and right here you can see the two niches descanses and then that is a view of the living room see this furniture leave me a comment below and let me know if you want to see what I did to this living room to fix that I felt like if there was something that could connect them perhaps the Wayne’s coat that i can add to the walls.

And I wasn’t going to add it as low as that I would bring it up a bit and then I was going to add height to this with some crown molding on top to beef it up a little bit now of course I needed to wood paneled this entrance to the living room as well I thought that this was really a nice feature and if they had taken that drywall and attached it and covered up the side so you would no longer see the sides of the stairs but that drywall would literally just go all the way down wouldn’t be pretty if we took the look of this tile here and we added it we put it on the stairs so no longer would they be wood stairs they would be stone stairs now look how the wood floor e does not seem to stand out so much it actually blends in with all the other beautiful would you see the new ceiling here the coffered ceiling this is completely cut and mitered all the way around in a triangular shape as opposed to the triangle just being cut off and running into the border edge and then cleaner lines sconce it down here a beautiful sculptural piece of art as opposed to what we had before which was a wood bowl look at this beautiful hand forged iron work that Louise did and let’s not miss this aspect you see how beautiful that is once we got rid of the side step look at those stairs and no amount of space goes wasted on the ropes and design project let’s take a look at that bookcase it underneath the staircase pretty yeah and each shelf is lit each one of these things on here are glued down don’t you love these hidden like pockets and when you take a hold of one of these shelves .
